JSO Wood Products Celebrates 10 Year Anniversary:
Through tests and trials wood veneer company survives
Founded in 1995 by Steve Kitts, JSO Wood Products has been tested and proven worthy of serving you. Ten years ago, a clue-less salesman who thought he knew it all, decided to leave his employer and venture out to stake his claim in the wood veneer world. JSO Wood Products grew at a rapid pace for five years and then struggled through the recession for two years and rebounded in the past three years. “This kind of business cycle is typical. The value is in the learning process through good and bad times. Since nine out of ten businesses to do not survive for ten years, this milestone represents a significant victory for any business”, says the owner.
“Our success is largely a reflection of my own determination to succeed and almost as importantly, to not fail” says Steve Kitts. “Failure is just simply not an option. In order to succeed, we have tried to stay focused on our customer’s needs. In our industry there is an “old-school” thinking that is kind of a one-way vendor-tilted attitude. We are trying to change that to a customer-oriented attitude, while keeping any eye toward profit and reaching our own goals. Our goals will be met where we intersect with our customer’s needs. We have built our business around our customer’s satisfaction. ”
The next ten years will test this company and determine if it can mature into a longer-term entity. JSO believes that imported products will be the future of the wood business as it has been for many industries. “It is becoming a more truly global economy on a daily basis as technology and shipping options expand and improve” says the owner.
